Thomas
Meracz founder, engineer, editor, composer, cellist.
I was born in Furth, Germany to musical parents from Hungary.
Emigrating to the United States, my family made their home in Los
Angeles and worked hard to allow me to pursue my first love and
passion: music.
My formative years were spent in classical training. I attended
conservatory, studied music theory, piano and the violoncello privately
and entered competitions around the country. I performed with orchestras,
opera companies and also gave solo concerts as a cellist.
By my mid-teens, music had taken me around the world and an interesting
thing was taking root within me: the more places I went, the more
people I met and the more music I experienced, the broader my horizons
became.
There was one sound in particular that I HAD to have in my life.
From
the clubs of Vienna to the basements of Amsterdam, people were moving
to a very different beat than what we played in a concert hall.
The
world had evolved and so had its music! Electric, throbbing, relentless,
this was the sound that fueled and drove hedonistic dancing late
into the night.
By my mid-twenties, I made a break with my path and never looked
back. My mission in life was to make electronic dance music. I collected
vintage synthesizers and drum machines and learned all of their
nuances. I built computers and worked two jobs: freelance mixer
and editor by day- dance music producer by night. For six years
I've been honing my skills, remixing, producing and playing live.
